France Wakes to 2 Dead and Nearly 200 Injured After PSG Victory Night

TRAGIC TOLL • Celebrations in France for Paris Saint-Germain's historic Champions League final victory have resulted in the deaths of two fans and left a police officer in a coma, with nearly 200 injured. Authorities are investigating the incidents that occurred overnight.

Paris, June 1, 2025 – France has awoken to a tragic toll after the celebrations for Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) historic victory over Inter in the Champions League final. The festivities led to the deaths of two fans and left a police officer in a coma, with nearly 200 people injured.

A 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in the city of Dax during a street party, as confirmed by the national police. The second victim is a 20-year-old man (and not a young woman, as previously reported by French media) who died in Paris after his scooter was hit by a car during the PSG victory celebrations, according to the Interior Minister's office.

Authorities are working to clarify the dynamics of all the incidents that occurred during the night of euphoria, which unfortunately also saw serious acts of violence and recklessness.
