OASIS DEDICATES "LIVE FOREVER" TO DIOGO JOTA AT FIRST CONCERT IN 16 YEARS
The iconic Liverpool duo performed their first concert in 16 years since their famous fallout. During the opening night of their "Live '25" tour, they honored the late Portuguese footballer, who tragically died in a car accident in Spain, by dedicating "Live Forever" to him.
Oasis returned to the stage last Friday after a 16-year break, kicking off their world tour in Cardiff, Wales, to a packed Principality Stadium. The return of the Gallagher brothers is a major event for fans, who, despite their excitement at hearing classic hits live again, remain cautiously optimistic about the "Live '25" tour lasting without further sibling disputes.
The group originally disbanded in 2009 when Noel Gallagher left after a backstage argument with Liam at a festival near Paris. It's rumored that Liam destroying Noel's red Gibson guitar during a heated discussion before the show triggered the band's split and years of public feuding between the brothers.
"Live Forever" Honors Diogo Jota
On Friday, during their first "Live '25" world tour concert in Cardiff, the Manchester band dedicated their song "Live Forever" to Diogo Jota, the 28-year-old Portuguese footballer. Jota tragically died on Thursday in a road accident along with his brother, André Silva, 25, who was also a footballer.
During the song's final moments, giant screens on stage displayed the number 20 on a Liverpool player's jersey, moving the stadium's fans.
