A pro-Palestine rally in the center of Brussels on Sunday evening took a violent turn when a person was stabbed. The incident, confirmed by Brussels police, happened in Zaterdagplein, near Place Sainte-Catherine. Dozens of people had gathered there to show support for the people of the Gaza Strip.
The police have released few details about the attack, including whether the victim was a protester or a bystander. "Around 6:15 PM, our services responded in Brussels to a stabbing that occurred during a demonstration," said Ilse Van de Keere, a spokesperson for the local police. Conflicting reports are circulating regarding the victim's current condition.
The event's organizers issued a statement condemning the assault, claiming that an unknown individual from outside the rally had infiltrated the crowd and attacked people. A suspect has been arrested, but the motive for the stabbing remains under investigation.
